I left work early and hoped that I could find wind to start my weekend. There was a big wind bubble onshore and it took a long while to go away. Gladly, the wind did fill in and I waffled with taking either a 12m or a 14.5m. Long story short, I went big and I was not disappointed. I was the only one on the point in the late afternoon but that was okay and not unexpected. It is not unusal for me to be the only kiter at Clover in the late afternoon. So, I self launched and had an easy drift and start off the reef. I gotta say I love kiting on easy summer wind and water. Given the calm late afternoon wind, I just mowed the lawn and indeed that is exactly what I did because my fins were cutting through the kelp every time I made my way close to Clover Point. My lovely big kite, in these calm summer conditions, helped me make many excellent tacks, gybes, foot changes and other cool things. Unusually, today, I spent more time on my surfboard than in the water and that was fantastic. I was solo for my whole session but when I came in there were other kiters prepping for adventure. What a great way to start the weekend. Feeling blessed.
