Was on my way to CC to meet sister who's learning to foil and decided to take the 'back' route through Youbou on the off chance that Cowichan Lake might be happening. It's outstanding when it does but been difficult to know with certainty when it will. Was passing Little Shaw Camp near top of lake when I saw the right direction developing. Stopped to watch from car and it built from wisps to 7 knots. Parked and stood on beach for 10min to see it go from 7-10. By the time I brought gear to the beach it was approaching 12 and by the time I'd rigged it was clear that the 6m an would be too much so pumped the 5m with 1210 foil. Immediately found that to be too much so came in and went to the 980 foil but kept the 5m to be safe; plus it has such a big range when OP'd. Overpowered for most of the session until I went way down the lake and even had a few slogs waiting for gusts to get going again. Eventually it filled back in full on and I was totally OP's all the way to the top of the lake and back down again. Would have pumped the 4m but I was toast after another amazing session at Cowichan. Great wind, clean, warm freshwater and only person on the lake! I think the one thing that has been consistent there is when we are coming off a warm spell and the next day's forecast is cooler. Twice that's produced an excellent session Cowichan lake the afternoon/evening before that cooling. When I arrived, it was 24deg. When I left it was 18deg and blowing 25!![/img]
