Sad to see the forest trail between the campground and the Caycuse river gone. Many large trees were logged for construction of the campsite expansion road. Nitinaht bear
There's a bad bear rampaging around the campsite. Goes to work when the wind is up and your camp is unoccupied. Can open just about anything, even chews the tops off water jugs. Lock your stuff up.

Bears loose in Nitinaht campground.
We were camped Saturday and Sunday on the beach at the North end of the campground. On Saturday a bear walked off with the neighbours' cooler and returned on Sunday to the same camp. Good idea to secure food in your car.

I have been to La Ventana a couple of times. I think the last thing we want at Nitinaht is La Ventana style free for all where the people with the big RV's arrive early in the season and set up permanent camps on the beach for 3 months. Nitinaht Camping Beach
I used to camp in this area on the beach. The area is now taken over by semi permanent structures and is unavailable for camping. It would be great if the owners of these structures would remove them and open up the beach for everyone to enjoy.
