Upwind fin for Chango

Hello there. I’m looking for an upwind fin for my Angulo Chango 75l wave-board in Squamish (current / tide) conditions. I’m certainly no expert on the whole gear thing, but I believe it’s an A box (?). Any suggestions on type and where I should order from?

Try a more onshore oriented fin (less rake and a wider base). A Maui Fin Company Onshore 22 or 23cm size would work. Riding a larger fin will allow
You to go upwind better, but will compromise maneuvering and control. Is the stock fin not working for you? How is your upwind technique?

Dave & doc,
I have a surf 22.2 gsport fin bought in the gorge, for the gorge and the production wave fin which has never been used. The setup works well in the gorge, however, I find it rather difficult to get upwind relative to other sailors in the current & tide conditions at Squam. Not to mention the commentary - "WOW, you can sail upwind on that??". I would have to say my upwind technique ain’t too bad at all, but that’s according to me…

I was using a onshore and still was having trouble getting upwind, my upwind technique needs improvement. I purchased a MFC Freewave and it made life way easier, it is still plenty turny for me but makes life easier to get upwind. Size depends on your weight and sail used. Any online store seem to be good though I waited a month when I ordered my fin I think it was Windsurfing Direct. If you are in Squamish I think airtime boardsports is your closest store, it's on W4th in Van.

Ditto on the Maui Fin Company Freewave fin. I never have a problem with staying upwind with it, yet it still maintains maneuverability. Great for bump and jump conditions. I find I have to set it back in the box a bit more than true wave fins, since it is less swept.
