Hey, this is a pretty great solution to gas price hikes we are sure to see and loads of roof with a 5 speed, rare and useful stuff!! Get ready for the summer at sandy oregon beaches, probably a great ski machine too, no getting stuck with the standard

good layout which is rare, sail/board storage areas, shower by the door, rear window for beach viewing.

The first FIAT in form of the 500 mini is now available in Langley at the Chrysler dealer.

Unfortunately I see their amazing Ducato van must be purchased in Mexico, which may be doable :D
http://forums.motortrend.com/70/7988619 ... index.html

as one of the forum members said: "bring it in as a manual transmission turbodiesel with a 4x4 option. There literally will be NO equal in North America. Sprinters have no 4x4 or manual option, ditto GM / Ford / Dodge. I think there is a huge untapped market there in the construction and RV areas... " Finally someone else hit the nail on the head, why can't the masterminds at automobile manufacturing figure this out??? look at all those right hand drive standard tranny 4x4 diesels being imported, that not an indicator what people really want?? sans the right hand I mean and 15 years old.... interestingly the above photo shows it with a L hand drive too

Don't hold your breath for standard, 4x4, 4 cylinder in any of these vans. The executives are convinced NA consumers don't want them (or that those that do are too few to bother with).

The Merc Sprinter has 4x4, 4 cyl, & standard versions available in most of the world, but they won't import them here. I expect the Fiat and Renault will be exactly the same. THough maybe the baby van will be enough like a minivan for NA, but a standard? Never. I think people look at the bulk of the bigger vans and just assume its going to need a 6 cyl or bigger. The Sprinter in standard and high roof versions with 5 cyl constantly fully loaded to gross GVW can average 8 litres per 100 km e.g., http://www.fuelly.com/driver/steinarn/sprinter-2500 which is astounding. 4 cyl will do even better. This guy http://www.fuelly.com/driver/mgjessop/sprinter-3500 gets 8.5 l/100 avg and up to 2300 km between fillups in his auto tranny one-ton, with a custom 96 US gal tank.

I imagine it will work pretty well for the Nitinat super highway as well as the Florence dunes. Roof racks sold separately.
