Oregon dune buggies!

Post by JasonD »

Anybody ever rent dune buggies on the Oregon coast?

-What's the best area?
-Company?
-Can you still rent 'real' buggies or are they all the converted 4-wheelers now?
-Other than Pacific City, anybody know of a good place to sand-boarding?

thanks!!

apparently Florence is pretty good and they have outfits for all that you ask as does Reedsport. 8) let me know, I wanna take the kids out and have the same questions. The sandboarding main place with large ramps is just 3-4 miles north of Florence on 101, I have seen tons of it done out of the campground at Honeyman park, very nice camping and walk to the dunes right there and fresh water beautiful lakes to wash it all off. Serious riding area just inside the south jetty access in the park, $5 fee per day.
Wish less, sail more!!

There is also a massive wicked bowl style skatepark, complete with full-pipe, in Reedsport to pump around if you are into that, on a long board, skateboard or bike. South end of town on the east side of 101.
Don't forget to bring a towel!

Skate-park?! Unless it's made of rubber, instead of the usual concrete, I think I'll pass but thanks anyway haha I love my board sports but I also love the fact I get to fall on water/snow!!

Thanks for the info on Florence Kus! I was going to head to Pacific City for the convenient surf/wind/sand/free RV camping all within short driving distance but it sounds like Florence will keep the missus happy while I'm gettin' my wind fix?!

She's into the surf/sand-boarding/dune buggies but has yet to find her wind cravings?! She's still waiting for summer to arrive to take lessons...........

I will post info on the dune buggy companies when I get back in August!

Thanks!!

Florence has a nice downtown and lots of good reasonably priced restaurants and coffee shops, so as long as your wife is not hanging out by herself at the South Jetty then she should be happy. If she is at the South Jetty getting blasted then you will either be dead or divorced after 2 days (maybe 1 day if 40 knots). I camped at the Port of Siuslaw (sp?) campground right downtown. But there are lots of campgrounds.
