2013 Vancouver Island Kite Race Schedule / News

Hey Folks,

Thanks to all those who turned out last year for the Ocean Rodeo/ Royal Victoria Yacht Club kite race. The RVYC learned some valuable lessons on kite race managment, and we look forward to a productive season next year.


Also, the RVYC is seriously considering investing in a fleet of Ocean Rodeo raceboards to help grow the sport in Victoria.

Race dates are as follows.

RVYC/ Ocean Rodeo Kite Regatta June 22nd-23rd (West Coast Tour)
Cook St/ Dallas Road
--Sat & Sunday, three races per day. Multiple classes (Race board/ Other)

Ocean Rodeo/ RVYC, Sept 7th & 8th
Nitinaht Lake
--Sat & Sunday, three races per day. Multiple classes (Raceboard/ Other)
--Ocean Rodeo will expand this event format to include
--freestyle and other competitions.

So far we have dates confirmed, and are working out other details. More info soon.

I'd like to add that I will be organizing a downwind race / event from Gordon's to Cook St in between these race dates mid July.
I'll be asking for assistance from RVYC and its members to operate a chase boat and start / finish line... and I've already got two friends with boats interested but only one confirmed.
When everything comes together I will hope to have some volunteers and plenty of kiters / windsurfers join us on this epic journey!
