Post by zoomy »

Actually, it is MY heli, with a GoPro cam installed. Anyone interested in aerial photography, let me know :)

Looks like a fun toy. I think this idea has great potential. Saw these being used on Maui.
How is it in strong winds?

kites swaying on 20m lines, kiters jumping and flying downwind, whirling blades in the sky, what could go wrong?

would love to see you guys in action through the heli-cam. Perhaps some communication between the videographer and the riders would be an idea. The camera always has favoured directions in which to shoot and the landscape usually dictates preferred approaches. Good riders can know about what works well. And the cameraman can certainly benefit from riders input. Get together and talk about it...it could be pretty awesome.

sounds like an added challenge to get that great shot!

I would hope that someone operating a heli-cam and some one operating a kite could try to stay away enough and keep things under control..

There's been a fair number of drone videos of kiting posted on different forums. One I saw recently had a close call where the drone slipped right in between the kite lines as the kiter passed by. So....bound to happen if it hasn't already. Then you'd get some awesome footage following a death looping kite from above. Or maybe footage of a crippled drone hurtling to land.

nice recent uploads!! pretty cool angle... looks like the sun was at your back from the beach and the kiter was a little more upwind of you! learn those laylines of where the kiter is tacking and tracking.... im thinking you need to be leading the rider but far enough downwind your not going to interfere!

gotta make the trip to the lake but it'll have to be a less busy day

Love the shots from your heli Tim! Since you live so close to the beach at San Pareil hope to see you down there flying soon! I would be curious to see how strong a wind you can fly in?
Why aren't YOU out there?
