Nitinat or the Gorge

Post by Bobson »

Don't give up on Nitinat yet people....The Starboard/Serverne/AirRush Demo's will be well worth it. Also, first weekend of racing which will count towards final prizes as well as special prizes each long weekend.

Weather is sounding and looking better each day....right now it looks/sounds like it will start up Sunday and maybe even earlier....

Gorge = long trip and more $$$ :(

Keep up the positive thinking!! :D

Niitinat Sunday - Tues

Post by KC7777 »

Check the weather for Youbou at the weathernetwork address below.

Nitinat could be good after Saturday. Sunny starting Sunday through Tuesday. Friday will probably suck, Sat. maybe OK.

I haven't friggin sailed since September last year (MBA/new job). I think I may have forgotten how...

I am heading to Nitnat and bringing my canoe for good luck. I will be covered from 0 kts to 30+ kts.

Looking forward to meeting whom ever ends up there.

Bummer, the Nitinat forcast just did a 360, it now looks wet and horrible. This is going to have to be a last minute decision again.

I agree, man the forecast has done a huge anal wrencher. Given the decent forecast I had already made plans for the lake....Gorge is back in the cards for me!! I'm off somewhere on Thursday or Friday for 10 days. 8)

Just maybe, it can swing the other way over the next few days. It's still a longish term forcast. A tos of the coin, it could go either way.

There again, we have been debating the weather this weekend from the 19th of April(start of thred). Who says sailors are obsessed with the weather?

hmmm, the gorge sounds awesome (today) for Fri & Sun, (dead on Sat for pre-swapmeet shopping?) but everyone agrees the forecast because of the changes is iffy, man, nothing like clarity and strong decision making

nothing like temps in the 70-80's and 25+ knots, hmmm 8)

Where are these new forecasts? All I still see is temps low, and weak pressure gradients, thunderstorms and unsettled weather till Monday :(

Weather sucks....

Post by KC7777 »

Nitinat definitely not looking as good as before for this long weekend.

Bobson can you phone me on Fri. night if you are there?

I am now thinking Nicola Lake this weekend....some sun expected in Merrit with cooler rainy temps in Vancouver may be enough for something on Nicola. Then I can spend the ferry money on beer at least.

Question:

Which weather forcast best mimicks Nitinat, Tolfino, Alberni or Renfrew? Or do you look at all 3 and just get a general sense of what might happen?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

It's decision time and I'm hittin' the Gorge. Far from an epic forecast but nwweather.com shows it being sailable somewhere every day and going to the swap is a tradition for me and my VanCity sailing bro. It's also one of my few chances for an off island trip. Besides, I already built a little cart so I can walk-on the ferry with all my crap. I'll be at Windance around 10ish most mornings checking the forecast and wishing the breakfast burritos were like they used to be. According to MM5 you guys should race at Columbia on Saturday! Have a great weekend all and hope the local forecast is wrong.
