snowkiting??

Post by Globetrotter »

ive noticed that mt washington is often the windiest place... well anywhere - according to Ikitesurf.com...
Today - "Windiest Spots: Mt. Washington 46mph | S. Bass Island 44mph | Michigan City 44mph "

This seems really odd to me being from the valley... is it possible that this wind only exists at higher altitudes? here are some graphs of the last 7 days...
http://www.ikitesurf.com/windandwhere.i ... ast+7+Days

Im just really baffled by this, as there hasn't been much wind at all lately at lower altitudes... correct? I wonder if washington would be a good place for snowkiting??

I haven't looked, but make sure they're not talking about Mt. Washington New Hampshire - the windiest place in Eastern N. America.

Mark the one that use to have a kitesurf store down on Douglas in the computer store.
(I'm sorry the name escapes me at the moment)
He told me two seasons ago, that he had been talking to someone at Mt. Washington
about designating a spot on the mountain for kiting.
I have no idea what happened. I haven't heard anything since,
so I'm guessing it didn't happen, but that would be cool though.

I think Nicola or Manning Park Lightning lakes ? would be a great spot for that, not too far from lower mainland etc.

I doubt very much ANY ski area will designate a kiting area on their respective lands though....but then I said that about tubing runs and man-made objects in snowboard parks too and look what happened

The cariboo apart from some of those nasty fences should lend itself very nicely too 8)
