eBay

Kus,

2 RDMs.....nice. On the road to the perfect quiver via eBay!

Well done on contacting Pritchard yourself. $225 is about the average for new masts he sells. Though I enjoy being one of the freaks who bids at the last second. I hit refresh in eBay....wait until 6 seconds left on the auction, then make my bid about $10 -$20 bucks higher than it is currently showing at (as long as that bid is within the maximum I want to pay). I have found that waiting until 6 seconds left is perfect cause then going through the "make bid" and "confirm bid" steps you can nail the end of the auction without about 1 - 2 seconds left. But then if you don't get it, just wait, something else always comes along.

MB have a great trip, please post how packing a mast back home works out for you as im hoping to pull a similar cunning stunt in february. According to air canada, the max allowable length of any carry on luggage is 80 inches - my sailbag makes the cut but even a 2pc 400 mast is like 83".

Looks like I got a 100% 430 RDM for $246 US on eBay. A little steep but still a bargan.

Hi DWD.

I don't know about Air Canada but WestJet had no trouble with the 430 mast. On the flight out there was a guy with a surfboard, I would estimate to be about 8 ft long. They took that too. Just so you know, they make you sign a waiver limiting their liability to <$250 though.

If you are renting in Maui I can recommend Hi-Tech. They gave me a brand new board right out of the bubble wrap to try out. $46/day for a complete rig, less if you keep it multiple days.

Have fun there. Hope you get more windy days then I did.

Mike
