So, how many sailors/surfers R in BC and where R they from??
actually the thread kinda went sideways , I was looking for stats on kiters and windsurfers actually more than surfers.....and only those that do it regularly rather than the half dozen days crowd.
well, guess we'll never know how many sailors there are in Campbell River, Cranbrook or Pt. McNeill ....so much for my project , more time to sail

You know, what is with the attitude on the waves anyway. Over the last few months all I hear is people griping about how crowded the waves are at J.R. and other spots for surfing on the island. If it is so miserable and at times violent, what is the point. I always had the vision of surfing at the epitome of relaxed kicked back lifestyle, you know the "endless summer" kind? what happened to all that good vibe?
Airtime! whoo hoooo, its all about the airtime...... ok waves rock too!
It really is a big ocean out there
I used to surf in Japan and being overused is all perspective...
I was on one beach is Japan sitting waiting for the next wave and there were litterally surfers 1 meter apart for a stretch twice the length of a sand beach break as long and longer than long beach.
Crowded beaches = more social = (need for) improved social skills
I still had lots of fun surfing in Japan (4 years there).
