Ideal surf vehicle???
I was on a biz trip last week to Grenoble, France and
kept seeing a wicked looking windhead capable van
It's the diesel Renault Trafic. Tons of these on the road.
The Trafic is diesel and gets 8.7l/100km mixed hwy/city.
Not bad. And, it has windhead cool features like:
"special front seats which pivot for enhanced conviviality
when parked, a rear benchseat that can be quickly and
simply converted into a bed and a removable table. "
Pivot front seats - how cool is that
Left hand drive, too. Completely flat floor,
which looked rubberized.
Why are all of us dumb-ass North Americans
driving gas cars
Diesels rock. rented a diesel turbo Volvo C30 all week -
what a blast - power and great fuel economy.

We are not the dumb-asses Mike the car companies are the dumb-asses for not making all of these diesel vehicles availble in North America.
Almost every useful vehicle you can think of comes in diesel form somewhere else in the world...maybe a slight exageration but you get my point. Truely annoying when you see these wicked vehicles and you know that there is no way to import them into Canada until they are 15 years old! Transport Canada is even trying to make it more difficult by changing the 15 years to 25 years. You have to wonder who is truely behind these types of decisions....maybe the North American car manufacturers....hmmmm I wonder. Oh God I have just started another conspiracy thread
I am just bitchy because I roofed all day yesterday in the rain instead of sailing at CB...now that I have ranted this is a sweet ride Mike!

I think I may have just got nearly the ultimate WS van. 2008 Dodge/Mercedes Sprinter high roof (could keep sails fully rigged inside upright, almost - nearly 7 feet headroom). Downside is OH on the ferry. But 8 point something litres per hundred KM (over 30 mpg) on the highway might make CB more accessible! Principally a work truck, but with enough room inside for both work and WS gear and some basic accomodation, I hope! It will be fun designing it.
