That E pressure slope is Rule #1? BUt with the coast coolish and Pt Alberni in the low 30s it should blow thermal anyway Fri Sat, maybe not as strong (although if the marine push arrives Sat it could be epic)

Dunno if I'll be around or on a plane; tempted to even try a daytrip.

My feeling is that the 10 degree temp differential between Tofino and Pt. Alberni should make it worthwhile for Fri and Sat. The forecast outflow winds seem pretty weak, so the thermal shouldn't have to battle too hard against it. The Sunday push may amp up the winds enough to be decent as well. As BWD has said, maybe not epic (no fog), but our best hope for wind this weekend! What does the Randy report have to say?

I'm more worried about the precipitation/cloud killinng off Sunday and Monday. I think Saturday should be fine & possibly even good.

Nitinat Forecast May 14, 2008

Wind Dudes and Divas,

Welcome to the 2008 Summer Sailing Season!
We had an awesome sailing day last Saturday at Cook Street and you've probably seen the TV forecasts for hot weather this weekend. Unfortunately the hot weather doesn't necessarily translate into wind for us at Nitinat because the pressure isobars(contours) show the pressure wind going the wrong direction to the thermal wind. Saturday looks OK probably 15 to 20 knots at Nitinat but Sunday looks pretty weak maybe 15 knots. It could be better if the High pressure ridge orients itself in the right direction.

See you at the Beach
