Wind on Thursday and Friday

Post by nick_macdonald »

It looks like theres a SE wind tomorrow morning turning into a W wind tomorrow, and a SE wind all Friday.

I am new to the island and was wondering where the best spots to kite on a SE wind are...any advice???

I checked out the other forum, thanks! Looks like I will check out Willows Beach tomorrow morning.

I am pretty new to kiteboarding. I had a few good days in boundary bay/crescent beach on my 9 last week. I was riding upwind comfortably, and even tried jumping a few times, so I am stoked to get back out on the water and practice!

Willows is pretty onshore. on a SE kites go to Island View, less stuff to hit. Look in the wiki for directions.

Island View is a safer bet than Willows -- watch out for the power lines and slippery logs.

You will need help launching and possibly getting to the waters edge if the wind is strong as the launch area will be slippery if there has been rain.
Its all about the adventure and stoke!

I try tp keep a trail open from the Gazeebo @ I.V. through the logs ... If your flying a bridled kite the "self launch" video might help : http://www.bigwavedave.ca/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3179
Thermals are good.

What an awesome beach (Island View), a lot more forgiving that cook street. Got a good 3 hour session in on my 9 :D :D Thanks for the tips everybody!
