Advice on Kite Sizing?

Post by sgbc »

I am hoping for some input on how to size a kite to my weight and where I want to learn? I weigh in at 250 pounds, and am looking for a kite that will be good for learning at Nitinat?

I am also looking for some suggestions on board sizing?

Back in 05 I bought an OR Stinger and Bronco, but they are to small and to big/slow, and I have a super old school OR board that is big in length, but is narrow and not easy to ride for starting.

I am wondering if a 12 or 14 meter OR One or Rise would be the best option for me?

Also wondering about the benefits of 5 lines over 4?

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
SG

Take lessons again, even for just a day to refresh your memory and try out the kites and their sizes. Elevation Kiteboarding has many boards that you can try as well during your lessons.

I'm 225 and i would say a 12m would be a good kite, as would an 8 or 9 for you. A 15m or 16m is great for light wind days. Depends where you'll kite most. Dale's right though check in with Marie and get dialed!!! More money up front but you do it right!
