Oregon bound, trip #1

Post by KUS »

Sunny weather down south and a half decent forecast permitting, I plan to head down to the Gorge or even some Oceanside for the May Long plus a couple days early maybe.

It would be great to have a small group, sail and soak up some warmth hopefully, maybe provide some local support for newbies, pick up some accessories, drink some Oregon IPA and devour Thai food at the launches, BBQ in camp, perhaps even sneak in a small ski tour op at Hurricane Ridge or Mt. Hood :?: Options are endless

Oregon in May

Post by KC7777 »

Hi Kus,

I have plans for the May long weekend, but was planning a Hood River trip just prior to the long weekend (ie Mon - Thurs) to pick up a surf SUP, might see you down there.

Is Mt Hood open that time of year?

ski touring

Post by KC7777 »

Hi Markus,

Yes, I have full touring gear.... I am waiting for the weather here to improve and plan to go do some inbounds at Manning this week. But that would be cool to get a day in up at Mt Hood.

I already own a 9'8"x30" Starboard Element surf SUP. Have sold 2 longboad surfboards this winter (8'6" and 9'0") so I figure I can now buy another surf SUP (10' - 10'6"x 32-24"?) to go with the 9'8" Element. I figure I will just SUP in waves instead of longboard surfing (owning both a longboard and surf SUP is redundant). Plus my sons are getting to the age (11 and 13) where they are SUPing in waves too so 2 SUPS makes sense (and 2 SUPS would be useful at Hornby Island in summer).

Plus - none of you guys would let me buy a damn quad with my $2k so I am getting another SUP!

Hope to see you in HR, maybe I can delay my return a bit.

Keith
