Ride to Remember Russian Dood - Sat June 8th

Post by morewind »

Last June, we lost Andrei "Russian Dood" Vozhakin to cancer.

On Saturday June 8th, there will be memorial bike ride and get together to remember this great person.

The ride will start at 10am at Willows Beach parking lot. We'll ride along Beach Drive to Andrei's memorial bench at the foot of Cook and Dallas roads. Then, a short ride to the Ogden Point Cafe. Grab a coffee, share stories, and thoughts.

Why a bike ride? It aligns with the Ride to Conquer Cancer that I'm doing in a couple of weeks, June 15/16 -- my ride is dedicated to Andrei.

If you don't want to do the ride, please join us at the Dive Cafe, close to 11am.

bike ride for Andrei

Morewind, What a good idea and memorial for Russian Dude. We miss him when the wind blows all around island beaches.
This was thoughtful of you to organize for a special wind friend we all lost last year.

Wish I could join you Morewind, but not able to make it back to town that early. Have a great ride and best of luck in the "Ride!"

Ride to Conquer Cancer for RD

Post by Sandy Beach »

Morewind, we just received your email update on your fundraising goals/notice for your Ride to Conquer Cancer. Amazing progress.

Within moments of receiving your email and seeing the classic picture of Russian Dood standing there smiling with his sandy feet, I got a message from my mom letting us know that a childhood friend (exactly my age) just passed away yesterday from two big tumours in his brain :(

Double whammy roller coaster of emotions.

Thank-you for dedicating your ride to Russian Dood

Amazing job, Mike.

Congrats on reaching your fundraising goal. You've done the 'dude proud! While I don't think I can attend the gathering (working on it though), I look forward to raising some pints in his honour down South very soon with you and the crew. Good luck with the ride!

Thanks to Morewind for the baking/goodie bag. This was the draw prize that pulled my name back a few months ago, and our schedules only just meshed. I've already eaten 1/2 the warm loaf of bread and about a half-dozen ginger snaps. Awesome!
