maui?

Post by bean »

I can hardly believe my luck, but I just booked two weeks in Maui for late Nov. early Dec. It's a full family trip with inlaws and baby, of course. If anyone has any advice on good/cheap places to rent gear / eat / rent car etc. it would be much appreciated. Can't wait to fill in the log posts!

jack in the box in kahului has big tasty burgers for like a dollar something, and its pretty close to kanaha, too if your looking for a quick break from the waves. the paia fish market on the corner of baldwin ave/ hana highway has wicked food for around $10/meal. On fridays, the kahului safeway has a special on their huge oven ready pizzas, its $5 for pepperoni or $6 for the works if i can recall. As far as renting gear, check out neilpryde maui or hitec they probly have the best stuff.

Car rental: 'word of mouth' car rental agency. You can find them on the internet. SUPER cheap car rentals. They make the transaction really easy by leaving the car at the airport for you :) And that is where you drop it off before leaving. Nice people to deal with as well.

Have fun, as I am sure you will!

"word of mouth" is cheap for sure. we rented with them in 2001. one of the cars would not start at the airport. the old adage applies "you get what you pay for". I would not rent with them again - the car was unsafe...belts did not work properly, no suspension. on the plus side you can beat it up as much as you want, nobody is counting the scratches when its so dented already!
