Well then I stand corrected. But seems like a poor marketing move since most people will write it off on the same assumption I made without bothering to Google. Anecdotally this seems to correspond with how few you see out there comparatively speaking.

Not going to lie being able to store the gear under the bed vs on top would probably make for a happier girlfriend. But there is something about the engine in the rear.

I think they look like a sumo wrestlers turd. But not many vans are sexy unless you go retro, like a 1960s vw. Or the jacked up offroad ones aren't sexy.. but kinda bad assish.

So...

Really seriously thinking of the Nissan NV 3500 (1 ton) passenger van....low roof, not high roof.

10 ply tires....and HEATED seats! Leather I think?

All seats come out, lots of room for boards inside (270 cm), with a bed on top of boards and put SUPs on roof and bike rack out back.

I know you can't stand up in it. But remember I drive skiing lots...and I only windsurf/SUP four months a year. And I am gonna take up kiting.

So a tall Sprinter or Transit makes less sense.

And seriously, with seats in you can seat up to 12!!....good for cat skiing trip next winter?

I am reading good stuff about the Nissan. They look kind of badass with a rack.

Thinking the colour in the middle pic....metallic Java with brown leather interior.

Why wouldn't you buy a high roof? That's like buying a jeep with no 4x4.

Strongly urge you to drive a 1 ton and 3/4 ton. If not loaded the heavier springs in the 3500 will just rattle you that much worse over every bump with no added upside.
Don't forget to bring a towel!

Drove both the 3500 HD (1 ton) and the 2500 HD (3/4 ton). I like the 1 ton.... just built bigger.

We were gonna go high roof....but van will be mostly used for 50-60 ski trips to Whistler, Baker, Revelstoke....and 20-30 sailing days at Nitinat, Gorge, Tofino, Coast in summer?

Plus in summer....I am living outside mostly, not inside the van. And I am not that tall haha. So I just think a low roof is the way to go now. And I just spent the last 10 years sleeping in the back of a pickup.

Plus I like the interior of the passenger....soundproof and finished off.

In the winter.....ski cabin or backcountry tent, so likely not sleeping in the van that much.

I don't understand why going skiing means low roof? Standing up inside makes for easier and better times regardless of the activity with very little fuel economy penalty (got 9.3l/100km coming back from the lake today btw). There's no over height charge on the ferry.

I don't know why you would want a stiffer ride. Even with all the stuff we've added a 2500 is a rough ride, a 3500 would be chattery and brutal on any sort of washboard surface. I drive ten thousand or so km of logging road a year and the last thing you want is a stiff ride. That's for sports cars.

But.....in rebuttal.

Parkade at Whistler Creekside accepts low roof, not high roof.

Most driving I do is not on gravel...I go through Alberni mostly to Nitinat.
Everywhere else is paved....ie Gorge, Baker, Coast, Whistler, Nimpkish

The 1 ton I am looking is the PASSENGER version which is specifically set up for a smooth ride...cause it is a passenger van, not a work truck.

I appreciate the input though....
