Hello Everyone.

Post by Nomadic »

Hi Guys. My name is Noel, i am going to be documenting kiteboarding here on the west coast. I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself to the forum. My goal is to try and capture what it means to be a West coast kiteboarder, with a personal touch. So all or any of your input is welcomed. This project is going to take some time so I look forward to meeting all of you in the near future. I guess since im new here the beers are on me! Cheers :D :D :D

I actually plan on floating in a blow up dingy anchored to something with my camera to get some good angles. Haven't really thought this one through probably just going to wing it unless someone had some advice on that

The overall idea is to meet each and everyone of you to create player cards with some riding footage. Each person who participates will be given their own final edit to do as they wish. So basically what i am offering is one minute of professionally edited footage for nothing other then meeting me and sharing a few insights about yourself and your kiteboarding journey. But even just a hey my name is i have been kiteboarding for ect..... would be sufficient.

If you are interested in participating please let me know.

If you are not interested and don't like this idea please let me know as well. I want to be respectful of everyone's privacy, thoughts and opinions

Basically just want to get some kick ass footage, and everyone is welcome to be in on it. No infomercial gimmicks. Just a kiteboarder with a dream to make a kick ass video about kiteboarding here.

See you at the beach

Hi Noel! Sounds like a fun and ambitious project! I think a good doc on the kiting on the west coast of Van Island is overdue and there is plenty of kick ass talent here! What is a playing card of each kiter ?? Do you kite and where are you from? Don't skip Gordon's beach in your doc.. ;) -Greg

thankgodiatepastafobreaky Hey Greg.... thanks a lot for the feedback man. Ya it is ambitious for sure. Hey, i think we met at Gordon's didn't we? You own the house on the hill right? I remember speaking to someone with a funny BWD name last summer. Ya the player cards idea is like watching nfl and the cut scenes that have a quick overview of individual players. Thats kinda what i wanted to do with the kiteboarders. That way filming the riding isn't just about the riding its about who rides and the adversity of being a west coast cold water kite boarder. Man vs environment.

And yes i started kiting in Kelowna almost 10 years ago. I took my very first ground lesson with a guy named Marc. Gordon's is definitely on the list. :) Hows the foil boarding coming along there Greg?

Oh right Noel! I remember now. The player card is an excellent idea as you describe it.

I would say foiling is a new challenge that is fun but turns you into a humbled kook again. It won't replace the strapless riding for me but now I can get out when it's light and fly along and view everything under the water from new heights. I was out twice an much as the other kiters in Baja due to the foil. I just drag it to the beach along with the kites and surfboards in case the wind never comes up. Can't wait to sail with you again soon!
