Post by Sandy Beach »

Nicole, is it setting up to be the typical side onshore wind, or like last Sunday's direct onshore?

Wind Summary for the Season- Windy Review

Post by girlonaboard »

Our kite school has packed up and have started our migration back to La Ventana.

The wind was great this year. We calculate on average 25 days of wind per May, June, July and August.

We can count on the wind starting at 1pm at around 16 knots for a pure thermal.

Often we get storm winds that blow all day and night and are stronger at 18-20 knots.

Its windy even when it rains so clouds do not kill the wind.

Very hot days kill the wind. It creates an outflow from town and the inflow meet at China Creek creating a non windy situation.

If you are planning to a camping trip look for a hot forecast as something that may make it not happen other than that you can expect wind.

China Creek to Baja

Post by Sandy Beach »

Thanks, Nicole for another great season, and for your windy review!

Winddiva (Alicia) and Paul are getting set up in their 35' tourbus, staying on our driveway getting ready for their journey south (pilgrimage) to Baja. We will be returning for our annual winter January trip to join everyone in the warm desert and windy beach.

Love the growing Port Alberni ~ La Ventana connection.

Safe journey!

Wind has started for the season

18-23 knots today! A few kiters out.

The kite school will be open the first week of June so for advanced kiters we will have our rescue service available and for non kiters lessons will be available at that time!
