Arrived to foilable conditions but held for a little more wind and swell. Pumped up the 3.5 and headed upwind to catch sailing yacht Venturosa half way to Brotchie. A couple kites out at cook st. and a fun downwind back to the RB sandbox. Swells built up and some epic smoothies started to appear. Big crowd of wind enthusiasts out today over 20 wings, ~8 kites, and freestyle Marty windsurf ripping! Great day!

Things to do in the afternoon so it was up to Pipers to catch the early shift. Fun waves on the outside for my longest flagged out rides to date. Worked on tacks on the inside with a few touch and goes, can't seem to get them consistently yet with some days better than others. First day of the year with no booties! Excited for the warmer foiling conditions, it feels like they are here now.

Swell! Early start at 4 am, 6:15 sailing. Ferry was shuttering pounding into the swell. Hit Pipers on landing. Fun session with a couple mutts! Udder, Scott, Tsawwassen and me had the place to ourselves. I enjoyed the lighter off-season boat traffic (still kept my head on a swivel keeping watch). Decent sized wind swell. Udder said we had chosen a good day at Pipers! Fun watching Tsawwassen flit from swell to swell like a big orange bubble bee collecting nectar! Great way to start the trip!

Sweet session at the Pipe! Stop over on the way to long Beach, first time winging there, what a super fun spot! Some really nice playful swell outside and nice consistent winds. Great to see Udder and the local wingers. Made it to Long Beach for the evening session but couldn't make it work.

Smoothies by the mile
Nice to see familiar faces and even nicer that everyone was rigging small. Well powered on the 3m for the first half. Remarkably consistent intensity, like foiling behind a boat. Just "ON" all day. Fun swell everywhere, long runs all the way back to the beach. Post session debrief with Juan and Luz. Thanks for the refreshments :))
More tomorrow!

Arrived early (9:30am) to 12-15kts. I rigged up the 5.2m but as I was about to head out it looked lighter so rigged up the 7.0m, Good Call BOBSON!! Out for an hour with Moths and Wasps buzzing by but spending a lot of time IN the water. One guy out there was amazingly skilled, sailing at, I'm guessing, 50km/h, straight up and downwind. WOW!! Stopped for a break and some water and more sunscreen just as the last South Island Windsurfer, Shawn, was heading out on a big board and 7.2m sail. Met T&T and Rup ... (more)

Another unfortunately short flat water session, in the wraparound NW.
Was a bit of work to stay foiling in the lulls, but doable for the most part.
Those lulls started to be more prevalent, so not wanting another paddle in, cut it off after an hour or so.

Up from the post-flight nap and felt like I'd slept a day; cool and drizzly this morning made way to wind and clear skies. Restorative coffee and hit Acadia for the late-arvo/sunset session. Didn't look that good coming around the top of UBC but shore check showed wind and three kites out. Rapidly flooding tide had me get the last sandbar off Doggo beach with bar floating already after walking and attaching lines.
Full power 10m for the next two hours as swell slowly started to break over the bars, som ... (more)

Favourable forecast on both models with 22kts at Entrance Island. 11:00 arrived to 15+ kts at the beach and caps past Clark Rk. On the 5.0 for a brief run then switched to the 4.0 for a more comfortable session. As expected, found the best swell lines North of the Hudsons. Sailing solo for most of the session with Juan and Luz joining in for the late shift.

Sunny low tide session. Launch 1pm with Phil. Over an hour on the upwind leg, a little overpowered perhaps. Some swell at Acadia, but decided to keep going to Wreck . Didn't get as far as the river, but waist high waves at Wreck. Good to get back to the launch and all the usual suspects.

Couldn't wait any longer, took afternoon off and headed to CP at 2pm. Arrived to GregCan, Gautham, and RedVanPaul all beaming, in a circle chanting BDE, BDE, BDE!! I'm not sure what that meant but I took their smiles as a positive sign. I looked at the water and saw 15-17kt gusts and maybe 10-12kt lulls so I rigged the 5.2m fat and had on the 900 front foil for some speed as the last few session of Winging have been pretty slow. I had to find a gust and pump to get on foil but after that it was on foil all ... (more)

Flat water jaunt in just barely enough NW.
Tiny strip of slightly higher puffs directly out front that you had to work to stay in.
All good until the very end, when i somehow fell on the wing at a wrong angle, and"kerpop" :-(
Good thing I bought a whole roll of repair tape.

Fun session, but way OP'd for me. Started off on the 4.7, but quickly made the long walk back for the 4.0. Definitely at the upper end of my limits, but happy to make some gybes and swell rides, and to watch the local skills.

Similar 4.2/94 wind, lower tide, bit smaller but decent waves as Monday which I thought was the season finale! This definitely rated! Sandy beach start, no-threat waves, full on gusty/holey winds. My fav. Maui N! Good company, thx for beers break Mr Dents!
Had zilch in tank from building mtn bike trails day prior, then 4 hrs tree pruning. Still got stoked enough, crashing now tho, very thankful

One run on the 4.0 then in for the 2.5. Juiced on 2.5. Played on the ART1001 for an hour then switched to the Spitfire. Long painful walk for gear changes with the ultra low tide. Fun day. Been a while since I've hit CB. I don't miss the drive. Great to see DavidM, Kus and Udder. Kept bumping into Udder after long downwind runs.

Decided the forecast was worthy of a day off. Trekked to Columbia with Wingdoc. Shaggy arrived shortly after. On the water with the 3.5 but switched to the 2 after an hour. Long rocky walk discouraged sail changes. Fun swells and some fun turny rides. Windsurfers numbered ~6or7, wingers 4, sea lions 3?

Tweezer and I plus Shaggy made the trek to CB hoping for 20knots. We got 30+! Ultra low tide = shite walk to the ocean but once out the wind was strong and swells were fun if not large. Immediately found out that 4m was way too big. Local WS contingent out ripping on 4m - looked super fun. Decided that straps are only good for jumping on the Ginxu; I much prefer the way it rides strapless. Got some fun hops in early then took the straps off and enjoyed the carving so much more. Tweezer on a 2m, Shaggy on 2. ... (more)

Well, that was a gooder!
Got out just as the SEer started to build, rode some really fun good sized waves.
Also spent an inordinate amount of time in the water ( after nose diving from some of those said waves) but still having fun.
Wind continued to build enough that i thought the surf exit might become "interesting " so decided to exit gracefully while i could.

Struggled a bit with 999 some nice small swell with a bit of lumpyness . A few lulls of schlogging so went in for the spitfire much smoother turnier with a little less glide but after riding back to back definately my new favorite. Good crowd out on a sunny afternoon.

A fantastic session with nice swell that gave way to chop as the high tide approached. I initially thought the 12m might be too much kite but it was the best choice for a well powered session, with nice strong pull through my gybes and good lift for me to practice tacks. I got two serviceable tacks completed, they weren't pretty but they did work. I had some nice swell to slash at the start of the session too. Good to see Justin back in town again. Glorious sunny and warm spring session, I am grateful.

First time back on the water after 7 months off. Felt great to be back. Quick in-between work session in mellow, warm, sunny conditions to get me started again. I was a bit surprised I still remembered how to foil through a gybe. Mostly well powered for the first 45min and then it started dropping. More please.

After 2 poor wind days for me, karma gifted me with fantastic RB magic. Well powered right in the bay, so I didn't have to go out to the sea lanes with Idefix to catch some wells. I had some of my best flagged out rides ever - thanks to the sweet conditions and some Tweezer tips! Tried in vain to follow Idefix and catch him on video. Just didn't have the speed. Getting nicely confident in the swells. Thanks for the sunshine, warmth, and cool company - RB!

Really fun session. Rode naked below the ankles today as it was finally warm! 1st session riding the 680/Dragonfly together. Super maneuverable, speedy and responsive combo. Pretty cool hearing the foil breach on higher speed runs and reconnect without slapping me down.

Lucky to have some time to go foil this afternoon in the sun. Looked flat, but windy when I arrived to my A1 parking spot. Ate a can of tuna, got the 5m pumped up, sunscreen on and booked it out there. Only Rupp Dogg lapping his way to 75km on the water, with a few goats on the goat hill goating it up. Waves were actually decent and wind was solid for a bit, but slowly flattened out. Started to focus on a few jumps and tacks. Great session! Gloves are officially put away till October. Think I went my longes ... (more)

Good conditions for figuring out my ART1001. Really have to keep up the speed to benefit from the insane glide. Impressed I could get up under 15knots. Got light so switched out for 1099. The increased drag felt like I had weeds on it. Even stopped and checked. After a few tacks got the feel of it and all was well.
