Angry shorebreak and 30kt gusts when I launched. Good sized smooth swell and nice and steep. I've missed this place. The wind steadily dropped during the session and I had a swim in at the end. Should have been here at 11 I guess but had to put in the long hrs at work.

Joined the OG's for a slide at Willows. Checked out the slop by Turkey Head and it was rolling, but a little confused. Did some circles with Highrocker, Lance, Mtnarg. Good fun! Tried the longer fuse to up the cruise factor - big diff! Felt more locked in and easier to go faster. Sailboat on the beach tried to sail off, but is now truly locked in!

well, that didn't go according to the plan!
Tried to go outside- but failed miserably.
A wing trying to rip my arm off, a lack of beach to leave from, and an obvious lack of skill made for a frustrating maytag experience.
Put my tail between my legs and went inside- but by now wind had built considerably- and a couple of laps on the 5m and had to admit defeat.
Came in, got the 4m, but still overpowered, and tired, so finally called it.
Bunch of other wingers getting going as i sadly drove away.

After locking my keys in my truck with wetsuit and second key and waiting for wife to arrive with spare (thanks again for phone useage tweezer) I missed any descent swell and wind, struggled with 4M for the first half until the wind picked up a bit. Zipped around avoiding sticks in flat water.

Looked great on the cam while i desperately tried to finish up things and get there! Got there, still looking good(?), rigged the 4m, by the time i was ready to launch decided to go with the 5.5m as it had dropped and flattened out significantly. Got some runs in the sun, some twig trip ups and kelp slow downs. A lot of sneaky vertical sticks bobbing around that you could barely see until too late. The early crew got the good stuff.

Another fantastic warm, sunny day at Willows. It looked like RB was beyond my skill and would challenge my enjoyment needs so I hit Willows. MtnarG and I waited for the winds to arrive. I found them adequate. MtnarG headed to RB. I was eventually joined by Lancer, GregCan, and Kalen later. It was classic gusty Willows and the gusts were frequent enough to get you through the holes. I was OPd on my 6m, but NBD, I excel at sheeting out. It was my second best session of the year! Not missing the snow....yet.

Sunny and warm with no gloves in January. Lots of great swell but also wood everywhere. Good fun despite the odd whack and crash. Finally had a good go on the 140 tail. What a great combo with the 1000. Snappy turns, more glide and easier to pump than the 205. Easier to control on a wave too with extra sensitive pitch control.

Lots of wind for the first 45 minutes so played on a twin tip but then it dipped so switched to foil without downsizing kites. Had an amazing 30 minutes in Ross Bay before heading back to the west side to get out. Timed it well as the wind came back again and was very overpowered with a 10m and foil.

Beauty session with glare and driftwood everywhere. Nice rides to be had and pretty lit on the 3 at times. Tried the 275 tail later with the spitfire for the first time and it was actually manageable compared to paired with 999. Improved the speed and maneuverability drastically but requires a lot of effort for pitch control.

First session since Dec.9th and felt a little shaky at 9am launch. Powered on 2.9M near shore, but came in at 930 to rig bigger. Back out at 10am on the 4.2m and was powered up. First session with the new bespoke deck pad of dual density foam from NSI in the Gorge. No need for knee pads under the dry suit and better grip. Also provided a slight indexing under the back foot. Arrived late as Mrnorthsouth was finishing and so was the wind, Waves were nice on the inside with no wind a few gusts on the outside but super sloppy, weird waves from the south with offshore E wind. Spent more time in the water than on foil but managed to ride the waves right into the beach with a lot of pumping, Better than an afternoon at work. Saw BWD go out with a paddle trying to catch some waves looked tricky.

Wetsuit's a little tight :/
Excellent OSRs from the South Island locals this morning so drove the wagon down the Hat. Noon, 15+ onshore at Willows, Lancer, MtnarG and HRock already on sail changes. 5.0 was the tool of choice for a good hour then up and down for the second half. Gusto sailed by with a "Happy New Year!!" Good start for 2024 :))

Fantastic foiling start for 2024 with MtnarG, Lancer, Danno, Gus. I was about to embark with my 6m when MtnarG came back in for something smaller. I went in with a 5m and that was the right tool for my inefficient skills. But, wow! Powered up at all times with a cross-onshore SE. A few little bumps to pretend that I can almost ride flagged out. Lots of fun, trying in vain to catch up to Danno with my learner foil. Such fun carving, gybing, and crashing. I hope the rest of 2024 will be like this!

Arrived to Windoc ripping. I rigged a 5.5 because short board and small foil problems and it seemed pretty light. Flailed outside with kelp dates, running into my wing and awkward gybes. I moved the spitty pretty forward and it was really carvy but frustrating as well. Ended up riding some nice steep swell in front of the staircase. Really light on the inside so walked back upwind.

Great day to be on the water. Gus, Highrocker, Lance, ULR, Idefix, CB, & Bobson were all there. Conditions were a bit up and down. I started early on the 8m. Made most of my gybes. Wind picked up so went 4m. Wind died a bit' 5m. Wind died a bit more' finished the session on the 8m. Idefix kept me company at the end. Bobson was a bit late to the party, so I didn't get any whohoo's from him.

Raced to CP after work to enjoy my 1st session of the year. As I drove up, Kite-foiler out but by the time I rigged up and went out they were gone. Decided not to rig to small this year so rigged a flatter 6.0m and it was the right call as it was 10-15kts most of my session. There were quite a few holes and lots of gustiness but I'm definitely not complaining, just enjoying the crap wind until summertime thermals. Got out for a quick hour, session #1 for 2024! Fairly light, originally rigged the 4m, did one short knee float out and back to re-rig the 5.5m. Was flying most of the time except for when I ventured far out and over in line with Cattle Pt, at which point it decided to drop off. Wind eventually came back enough to continue flying and stayed closer in to south Willows where the wind seemed best.
