Arrived to 8-10kts but looked doable with more 10 than 8kts. Headed out in the pouring rain which didn't stop. I got 45 mins in the NE which was pretty steady 8-12kts but mostly 10kts. It started to die so I headed in to wait out the lull. Had a drink of hot tea and granola bar and BOOM! Look who showed up....The freakin' Pope!! I actually didn't know he was in town. HA! We chatted while he rigged up his 7.0m Wing as the wind came back from the SE. I headed out with him right behind me but the wind was fairly East and it was hard to get out, especially with the super low tide. The wind teased for 20 mins but then picked up for another 40 mins and we both had some long runs from towards MTI over to JJ. Flat water at either end but lots of weird chop in the middle. The rain was hard and fairly cold. For my second sesh I went out with no gloves and paid the price when I was done with 'the hand thaw' pain. Pretty happy I got out and got 30kms in but it was some of the crappiest weather that I've foiled in. Hard, Cold Rain, just enough wind and weird tide induced chop. As I returned home, I found a package on the table....yup, my new foil arrived. A new PTM930 (950cm2) HA foil which should hopefully help with my lack of speed lately using my 1263cm2 foil. Hopefully a bit more Zoom-Zoom!!
BOBSON OUT!
ps. foiling with 'The Pope' is a lot of fun! Less WooHoo's and more Hail Mary's.
