I am reminded of the "nightmare" in a Gorge windsurfing video (Springloaded, Rushwind sponsor, was it?) with Nic Baker and the Aussie whatshisname where it was suggested that Rushwind sails come complete with cell phone pockets so you "wouldn't have to miss those important calls"
Do you guys really listen to tunes when skiing or surfing? I've never seen a purist do that....but then I can't ski or sail worth a crap after smoking or drinking and some of my buds sure CAN do that......
I get off from the wind in my hair and the water pounding my board (and listening for the logs bashing off my fin) or the rushing sounds in the trees or the ominous quiet where you just found that perfect powder field in the trees....You can't conceivable need more input than that who needs an Ipod? My thoughts

there will deffinateley be two schools of thought on this one, myself while snowboarding i have used a walkman some of the time and it definately does pump you up a bit .but i have to say it usually ends up turned off and i totally forget that i even have it with me so i guess i prefer the natural sounds. as far as kiting with a walkman it does sound cool (i havn't tried it yet) but like snowboarding i will probably turn it off and forget about it halfway through the session, again probably because i will prefer the natural sounds.
just a thought how safe is it to you and the riders around you if you can't hear any thing but your music?
cheers greg

I don't think it is safe when others are near you.KUS wrote:I am reminded of the "nightmare" in a Gorge windsurfing video (Springloaded, Rushwind sponsor, was it?) with Nic Baker and the Aussie whatshisname where it was suggested that Rushwind sails come complete with cell phone pockets so you "wouldn't have to miss those important calls"

Trend? or here to stay...I suppose I had a walkman for music to enrich my experiences...I guess lately I have enough to listen to (at work) and that is why I enjoy the sound of the wind whistling past my ears and the sound of the board skipping accross the water.
