Ross Bay had way more wind than it looked (well, sometimes it was nearly dead, so it looked like that). Other times the 25kt + gusts But I could'nt see how it looked anyway because I had misplaced my contacts and could barely find the beach (in fact, I ended up at the reefs at the east end one run). Interesting to sail a new spot and not see. Last few runs I took a chance and wore my glasses - funny how much less gusty the wind got then

Anyhow, a couple of solid hours mostly fully powered, some overpowered, on a 5.8. One gybe nearly planed through -- booms were in the right place and I was only off plane for a second or so -- nice! Didn't carry enough speed into most of my jibes, ended up falling to the inside or getting tipped in by the chop when stopped. I should have done more runs, but I somehow forgot to move my lines foreward every time I had the chance . Too much fun trying to prejump the ramps (blind on a big board!) and powering back climbing up, over, then screaming down with the big chop and over the next wave to worry about balanced lines. Burned my front arms out, but worth it!

Cook must have been nice, I'd like the smoother wind if the shore break wasn't intimidating (and I'd really have to be able to see there).

One boot Bruce was on a 120 l board and a Retro 8.0, which was more than enough! Hats off to Bruce for not letting misplacing half his equipment (in some cases, exactly half his equipment  ) after a move from Vancouver stop him from getting out!

Ross Bay

I'm guessing every sailor and their brother was out today off Dallas Rd waterfront. 8) It was amazing 90% of the time, 10% of the time there were holes with actually no wind in them..?? Fantastic wind the rest of the time, probably 15-25kts in the gusts. Starboard Steve and his twin were riding twin 9.8's most of the time on thier Formula boards, pretty damn amazing I'd say. Nice work keeping the 9.8's under control fella's, you really use your 170lbs well! =D> I rigged up the Ezzy 6.9m and was powered up to OP from 11:30am till 3pm. It was my first time sailing off Dallas Rd. and what a ride. Lots of good wind on the outside(bit gusty on the inside but less swell for practicing those damn jybes!!) sun and people to sail with which is great :D !!

Quite good humour today with MF4 forgetting his contacts and watching him sail and end up on the other side of the bay then decide to put his glasses on and One Bootie Bruce with only one bootie(thus the name) hooked into his Retro 8.0m going Mach 3  as fun was had by all. Each tack past the end of the clover point I saw more and more kites and windsurfers, looked like about 4-6 windsurfers and 8-10 kiter dudes. 5 of us at Ross Bay makes alot of sailors down there today. Funniest thing was I saw the Russian Dude with a BIG SMILE :D on his face when I drove by Kook St. after I was finished....he must have gotten that 'WIND KILLER' [smilie=fireguns.gif] monkey off his back.

Anyways, had 3 1/2 great hours of fantastic sailing with lots of great wipeouts, waterstarts and jybes. Today was definitely a 9 outa 10. Water is still too cold for the 3/2 wetsuit. It's OK though, I can wait for Nitnat.

Hope you all had as much fun as the gang at Ross Bay.

ps. If anyone wants to give jybe lessons for beers [smilie=drinkofbeer.gif] , let me know as watching others do the planning jybe...that's the next skill I want!! LATER!!

Yup, that was a pretty sweet day at Ross Bay. It was a nice combo having the 5.9 on the slalom board and 9.8 with the wind so mixed up like that. Hey Bobson, when Paul fixes up your 9.0 and makes you an adjustable out haul Tweezer and I would be happy to show you how to go down hill like that. Also, I think Mark might have a 70 cm deep tuttle fin for sale.

Fantastic SS :D !! I have lots of learning to do before it's time for a Nitnat trip so the sooner I get the jybe and going downwind the better. Ask the Tweez-man if he's selling and how much.?? The Go is only 83cms wide so is that Ok such a huge fin.. :?: :?: I really appreciate the help learning as reading stuff on the web only goes so far. Watching yesterday really helped too! You think the adjustable outhaul is the way to go...even for being such an amatuer..?? Let me know if you're going out again anytime and I'll try to keep up with ya \:D/ ...HA!!
