Ok Bobson so 8.5 may be your small rig but it's a parachute to me. Another problem though...the board I wanted is sold out and new ones haven't left Thailand yet. End of may maybe.
Looking for something floaty (around 140-150L) to fly a 6.9/8.5 on light bay days and Bobson Racing Series days.
Was looking at the JP X-Cite ride 150 (sold out), Freerace 142 (sold out). Has anyone gone for a boot on a carve that big? Any other suggestions?

Gman - For what it's worth I just picked up an Exocet SS2 140 L. Haven't tried it out yet.

Just curious, where did you get an Exocet? I'd like to pick an OW 85 but it seems to be hell to have one in BC.

Hey Gman, Airtime in Van has an '04 JP 04 X-CITE RIDE 150 for $1,499. I know you wanted an 05 but not a bad second place..?? Did you try Bosuns' Locker in Victoria...?? I know Paul deals in JP's and has some stock.

I saw a slightly used 150 Go for $1100 at excel. It looked spotless to me.

Claude - I got the Exocet from Windsurfing-Direct in Kingston Ontario. I believe they carry the whole line.

No personal experience, but I've read rider's (as opposed to mag testers) say the big Carves are kinda dogs.

Here's a couple, one for one against from yesterday on Boards forum:

FOR:
Don't underestimate a carve 151, you can push em at pretty high speeds, and easy through chop etc.

Plane dead easy, pumping or no pumping, so for us unfit boys they are great, and cheap now they are a few seasons old!

Sorry JTS, a C151 is way off the pace of a dedicated big slalom
board and not very versatile..mine lasted 3 months until I got a
HS

IMHO the carves feel a little slow and 2 dimensional compared to
the dedicated wide slalom boards ..I'm offloading my C111 as
soon as I can..it feels very pedestrian..to get a S-type

HS133/125 are surely a steal now that the fashion conscious have

Check out rec.windsurfing and do a search on the Carve you are thinking of - lots of reviews and comments. You could also search the *board site, but might get more bias...

Hey G, I'll bring my Hyper next time and you can have a try on that.....can hold up to 10.4m sails and the 125 litres will easily float your wirey frame...HA!! You and the 8.5 would rip on that sucka!!

I'm going to need your rig pretty soon Bobson. Starting to get a 'Skipper' belly. Always wondered how the old-time tugboaters got so chubs, now I know. Coffee and grumbling about the deckhand!

As far as boards, I took a peek at the 04 JP 150 at airtime. The write up for last year wasn't very friendly so I'm in the hunt for a Freerace like casey 7's. What is your Hyper (128?). If I haven't found something by the long weekend then I'm going to demo some of the Starboard fare - F-Type 138 maybe. Would be great to go for a rip on your board too.

We'll swap and you can go out on my JP wave 84L...

The Hyper is 125 litres. I'm sure Trident will have lots of good Starboards to try.......YES!!! I've got a 10.4 and an 11.0 right now so there is one too many big sails in my bag!!

84 litres.....what is that like a water ski....???

ya know, Bobson, I gotta feeling given your rapidly climbing # days sailing, your tiny SUV and shrinking budget (kid getting bigger) that it would take only an afternoon getting used to a 90's rig and a 5.0 with a coupla starter Nitinat wave(let)s and you'd never look back to anything over 110L dood....there's be soooo much room in your garage for a bigger truck, ha!
