Awesome Xmas session at 3rd Ave from dawn patrol to noon. Steady SSE to SE 25-35 perfect for 5m+surfboard. Chest high waves with 40' to 60' clean sections. Started solo at dawn patrol ... by mid-morning a good turn out (about a dozen kiters avoiding their Xmas/family obligations). Surprisingly warm for this time of year.
Some of the cleanest sections I've seen at 3rd Ave ... should claim this as a unicorn session

Merry Christmas, foil friends! TnT and I looked out with scepticism. So I took the shot with my biggest gear and I was up before mid-bay and had steady winds at Clover level. Perfect for some gorgeous 4ft rollers that were rolling in, at times. Fantastic sunny, warm conditions and great company. Got 2 amazing sessions in, and thanked the Christmas angels for the amazing early gift. Foiling travel destination conditions! More please!

Arrived to ULR just heading out and a handful of Wings out all foiling. Looked a bit light so rigged big, 6.0m as I didn't want to schlog. It was probably 10-15kts but 10mins later it was gusting 20+ so came in and rigged down to the 4.5m Sailworks Flyer. Perfect size! It was definitely perfect BOBSON conditions, flat water, steady wind and a bit of junk to slalom around. I had 2 kelp takedowns but the rest of the 90 mins was AWESOME SAUCE!! Fantastic Christmas Eve session in the sunshine. Warm conditions with steady winds that didn't knock you over -- a nice break from all the bomb southeasters. Lots of slalom between all the bits of wood. Sometimes that line between good idea and catastrophe is razor thin - and this morning I walked it.
Solid 20kts as i was gearing up, but by the time I got out, it was a pretty consistent 25.
A smart person would have either A) gone in for the 4m, or better yet B) gone over to the spit fishbowl.
Unfortunately there were no smart people around, and i continued.
Long story short, turned out to be an excellent session, with some really good rides.
Wind actually eased just as i was coming in.

Got a few planing runs on 110/5.3 among boos and jeers of the locals who were busy bobbing around, except for Rainbow who seemed to cheer me on. Full body beat down. With too much wind for my windfoil setup, I opted to bring out the old-school slappy board. Super rusty and out of sailing shape, I did not last long. Got in maybe 30min (max) before the forearm burn kicked in and I was done. 5 months of no sailing will do this to you. Got in the water with low expectations and they were all met. ;) Some sweet swell rolling in but I was just too cooked to take advantage.

Couldn't get there till 2:30. 3rd session on the sinker. Got up quick a couple times but mainly struggled with multiple attempts in gnarly full on juiced 2.5 conditions. Scored a few long bombs though and barely got in unscathed through the shore break. Just me and Fin the foiler

Short session on the new 3.5 then it got a bit much. 2.5 was easier but still a challenge in the 35kt gusts and logs and kelp. Had a few nice waves so it was a good day. Nice and warm with no gloves in late December!
The new 3.5 feels really well balanced and no flutter in the 30kt gusts. The front handle feels short though.

Arrived just before noon to Tweezer, BWD, Landon out ripping around on 3-3.5's. Windjunky was just about ready to go 3m and I too plucked the 3m from the quiver. Some sizeable shore dump awaited for launch, patience and you can get out in the wave lull no problemo. Was instantly powered up and over powered on the outside. Arrived a bit early for the show but watched Kalen and chatted with BWD. Eventually it kicked into gear and I rigged the 3m. Ate a good amount of Clover humble pie with the amount of junk, being lit on the 3m and a good cramp in my side. Eventually got a few nice ones but pulled the plug after that. Tweezer, ULR and WJ joined in and it was fun to watch them rip it up. Either a 2 or 2.5 is in my future I think. Also some more cardio for the big days.

Went to Willows first to see what it looked like. Bobson said too much flotsam and jetsam so decided to stay in Caddy Bay. Left the YC and it was a bit light at times for the 3m until RSMundell said let's go out. It was full on around cattle point. Caught a couple nice rides down the bay. Forearms are shot from using gloves. Lots of fun with 8 others out at one point!

Landon and Dave on 3M when I got there. Tried the 3.5 but it got windy! Went to the 2m. 2.5 might have been ideal but made the 2 work and then it got windy! Hard work mixed with fun slides.

Scored ForgetSon's RS parking spot and went 5m to get out with the big onshore winds. As usual, getting past the shorebreak was super tough for me. It took many tries before I could clear the beach bottom. Enjoyably difficult conditions. Alternating full luff on gusts, to full pumping to stay up on lulls. Great to have so many wingers out. Only one mis-jibe cutting off a foiler. Sorry! Stayed close to shore at the end with 30+ winds.
