I almost gave up on the day after watching IV rise and fall all morning. Then Clover amped so I headed down and almost turned around when it was full sun South of Elk Lk. Arrived to full sun and 25kts with waves. Super fun sail with Gus, then Shaggy. The wind was up and down and I was mostly OP. Great waves and more SE so you could make it upwind. Had some fun long rides and a few too steep drops. Thank you Bombo.

Joined Dane w/ 4.2/94. Couple runs then light so put up 4.7. Error, beep! error!! So OP it hurt soon as I got out. Rest & 4.2 flat, Dents joined on 4.0. AJ later, great fun for 2hrs, waves got better, solo logo crumbler still fun to look up, less chop, bagged out 4.2 for +1hour. Rigged 5.0 when it kicked down, stood in break for a bit but it was over
Rough 3.7ish choppy start, then bliss except 1 full endo as sun blinded me coming in, didnt see the tree/branch. 2 Rainbows

Lit when I launched and over-foiled a couple of times when faced with huge swell on my first reaches. Sunshine and swell for precious moments but it was all over too soon. A few nice runs before it backed off and moved off-shore. Lucky to get a session.

Wingdoc, Tuna and I launched at Turkey head to play in the slosh. Fun sail! Checked out Willows Cattle point end to see if the swell was decent but it wasn't pumping. Tried to sail upwind through the marina break water but couldn't quite navigate the kelp and narrows. Tuna showed us how it's done!

Nothing felt right today, I'm still trying to figure out what was wrong. My wing felt gutless, not sure if it was the gusty wind or if it's just getting old or maybe I'm getting old. Couldn't water start, kept getting rolled off my board and never got my board and foil dialled. New boots didn't help, they suck, and kept getting stuck in my straps or on the straps when struggling to get on my board. Cyclone Bomb preview winging. First went out on the DW board and Faux drive with the 1300. Caught a few waves but felt overfoiled for the conditions. Came in and switched to my winging setup. Everything felt really dialed in. Lots of empty faces to carve on. Some of the best feeling turns I have ever had. Wind dropped just as I was coming in at lunch time.

Met, big wave Dave down at Clover. Robin joined shortly after and so did Wingdoc. I opted for the 3 1/2 but probably should've picked the two. big mackers and fun rides into the spiral. I was starting to get tired and then I saw Robin's wing flyby. What do I do? I was having trouble restarting. I had to let it go. hopefully his wing will turn up.

Cool North Easterly. Snow on the hills. No rain! Shared the session. Challenging to get started with eel grass in the first 200 yards. Warm in the medium tall Mystic 3/4 with a large Xcell 4/5 worn over top. 7mm mitts! 8mm boots! Impact vest with lower foam removed to suit waist harness. 60 YO bag of bones. Gusty and some serious wind! Some nice downwind rides.

Good fun mostly. The first part was Tweezer was really good with mellow 25kts and big smooth swell. Then it picked up and got a bit much even on the 2.5 which keeps losing air. Sad to see ULR wing cartwheeling off to Esquimalt. 580/180 sure is a fun combo,

Bomb cyclone box is ticked! Paul was just ending his session finding it a bit OP, as I got in. I figured it was worth test driving the 3m wing and I followed Poper into the maelstrom. Brutal entry for me and I almost gave up to avoid wing rip. I got lucky with a milder swell and got out. Tough sledding and jibing until I got used to the roughness. Tried to catch Poper but he was flying on angel's wings. Lots of carves and flags, but no GPS (fail). It was an adrenaline rush. Happy to be safe and sound.

Fun session with ULR, BWD, and Tweezer off Clover. Nice swell, pretty easterly wind. Gusts started hammering near end of session and ULR's wing decided to go check out Royal Bay without him. He paddled in as the rest of us kept a watch over him. Fun wave garden riding but may need to put the long mast back on (love the turny feel of the short one though!)

It was looking a bit gnarly and I was somewhat on the fence about going, but down at the beach the shore break looked manageable and the wind seemed a little less crazy than at the parking lot. Pretty light on arrival, most coming in. Chatted on the goat hill for about 30 mins and felt a few gusts come through. Put the MA1225 back on, and gave it a go. What an oddly fantastic session! Very light at the start as I tried to catch up with the Pope and Bobson. However, winds improved and got a good hour of well powered play at the top half of the bay. Kelp was scarce, but there were still a bit of wood, including the big Shin Crusher Log. I was consistently well powered as I played my board carving games and tried to get the other foilers into GoPro capture range. But, I was usually too slow. Nice long session in a moderate SW. I was adequately powered on the 4.0 for half of it but the 5m made for a much easier ride through the final lulls. I'm starting to appreciate the DW board : )

Arrived in the rain as the first shift was packing up. Never seen Bobson shiver before! Managed to get rid of a box of Loukoumades from the Greek community centre as warming devices. Excellent session! The foil now forward flies so quickly - had trouble shifting my glued front foot further forward running down wave faces flagged out. Very nearly foiled out but got my weight further forward and managed to shuffle a cm or two and that sorted it. Pretty much made the elusive foiling gybe. Got powered up a ... (more)

Today felt like two very different sessions. The first hour was very light winds, super flat water, and I was on my 7m/1475MA playing slalom with Bobson and Ang. For the second hour the wind picked up quite a bit, some gnarly rain, still pretty flat though, and I was OPd on my 5.5m/880HA. I'm absolutely loving everything about that 880HA. Soooo Much Fuuuuunnnnnn!!! Arrived at 930am to 10-13kts. Rigged up the 6.0m sail and 1263cm2 foil and headed out. Schlogged out to the wind line at Clover and then for the first hour it was up and down and feeling chilly but super duper flat and basically nothing in the water to watch out for except 2 Wingers. Started the session with a Downwinder from SP to CB. Really worked on trying to link from one wave to the next. Got some serious speed up going down some the the larger swells. So much so that I had a high speed bail that broke my metal clip for my board leash! When I got the CB switched out my fuse to the crazyshort adv + and went back out on the 4M. Weird storm session, dropped to 10 knots when I first went out on my 4.2m. Came back in grabbed my 6m then within 20 minutes it was gusting to 20 knots. Grabbed my 4.2 again then had an ok session but the swell was messy and was hard to get a rhythm going.

Short but fun session. Not as cold as I thought it would be but I sure hate glove season. Some fun steep waves in the bay with less intense conditions compared to the outside, but still got rolled around in the shore break a few times when I came in too close.
