Board Construction?

Hey I'm new to the boards my name is Peter me and a couple buddies are just getting into the scene and were thinking about making a board and if any one had any knowledge on material/length/width/rocker/fin placement/ staps?and info on this stuff would help us out thanks.

Kiteboards don't have to be fancy to work (apparently: -- I wouldn't know myself since I don't kite ). Check out these from some poor students at MIT:

My suggestion is for a composite construction vacuum bagged PVC (divinicell) foam core with epoxy / glass laminates.
